Not long ago I mentioned to my teenager that I believe he thinks about food more than he thinks about girls and his simple response back to me was, “I do!” This truly reminds me that “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach” and was resonated once again last week…here’s what happened:
We were at an outdoor concert with a number of our teen’s friends and their families when from across the way I hear, “Mrs. Moritz, you put ham AND cheese in the middle of your meatloaf??” Why, yes, I do! The conversation continues on between 3 boys discussing what meals they have had at our house and what are their favorites!! That conversation made this momma’s heart filled with joy…that at this moment in time I am able to show love to these guys through food! It keeps them talking, it keeps them wanting to hang out at our house and it keeps them hApPy!
Laying the foundation of communication during the teen years is so important and having kids around our table is one way we, as parents can really get to know what’s going on in our kid’s lives! This week I wanted to share with you my easy homemade Chicken Kolache recipe.
A kolache is a soft dough with yummy fillings that range from sweet (fruits) to hearty (meats, cheeses and breakfast foods) . Once you make the filling, roll out the biscuit dough into a 6-inch circle and place a large scoop of the filling onto the dough.
Be sure to gather the the edges of the biscuit dough and seal.
Place the seam side down on the cookie sheet to bake.
Easy Homemade Chicken Kolaches 2 T. butter 2 T. flour 1/4 t. salt 1/2 c. milk 3 c. cubed chicken (cooked) 1 c. shredded cheddar (I like the 3 cheese cheddar from Kraft) 1 can biscuits

Hey, I’m wondering how you do the biscuit dough? I’m from Sweden btw so this is new for me.
Rasmus, we have canned biscuits in the refrigerated section of the store that you bake. Do you have those in Sweden?
Thanks! I have no idea. But now I am going to lock for it. I’m also wondering what T and C stands for in your recipe? And do you use fahrenheit? Sorry for all the questions.
/Rasmus
T is for Tablespoon and C is for cup! And yes, we use fahrenheit. Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions!
Do you have the biscuit recipe if we don’t want to use canned biscuits? I usually use those for convenience, but am seeking a great recipe that I can start making on my own, hoping things will be a bit more healthy! Thanks!

I made these. They were easy to make. I didn’t really like them, (bland, boring) but my kids Loved ’em! They scarfed them right up.
Can these be frozen and reheated????
Made these a couple of months ago and making them again tonight to use up Christmas leftovers. Very yummy – I add garlic powder and onion powder to the chicken mix to give more flavour. Everyone loved them. I made my own biscuits from another recipe I pinned. Thank you for a new stand-by for our family!
So glad you love them! I will have to try the garlic and onion powder too!
what are the ingredients for the dough?
We just use biscuit dough or crescent roll dough…out of the can!
No one ever stated how to best make these ahead and freeze them. Can someone let me know? Thanks
Donna, I think Heather wraps them in foil and puts them in a large freezer bag.
Hope you take the time to teach your son how to cook his favorite recipes, maybe even go so far as to gather his favorite recipes in a book so that when he leaves to go to college/moves out on his own he will have them with him.
People also enjoy my meatloaf, I use ground beef, pork and lamb, oatmeal instead of soaked bread, and wrap mine in bacon before cooking.
