Keepsakes are a great way to preserve those special memories…And some of the best memories you will have once your kids are older will be of all the time they spent on the sports field or court. Christmas is a great time to reflect and if you have special ornaments commemorating each year or sport, it will bring back all those memories every year. (You might even have enough to have a special tree just for their sports ornaments!)
DIY Sports Ornament Keepsake
Supplies: wooden disk (found at most craft stores), craft paint, markers, printed black and white photo on computer paper, Mod Podge, brush, drill
I found pre-made wooden sports balls at my local JoAnn Fabric, so it made this project really easy.
Paint the wooden circle first the base color of the ball (if it’s not already painted). Then use the Mod Podge to adhere the photo. Put the glue under and on top of the photo. It will dry clear and keep the photo preserved.
Use markers to draw any ball lines and add the date, then use a drill to make a hole for the ornament hanger.
This would be a great Christmas tradition to do with the kids every year. Have them make ornaments from the previous year in December to add to the tree.
