Basic Information

Age Group: (8-11yrs) (12-15yrs) (16-Adult)
Number of Players: 9+
Difficulty: Medium
Time: 15-25 min.
Emphasis: Finishing, Passing, Possession, Attacking, Defending

Field Preparation:

  • 3 teams
  • grid (40yds x 50yds)
  • cones to mark off area
  • 2x goals with goalies
  • pinnies
  • supply of balls ready for continuous play

Description:

  • one defending team in front of each goal as shown (red + blue)
  • one attacking team starts in the middle
  • the attacking team starts with the ball and attempts to score on one goal with the defenders (red) trying to prevent this
  • if the ball is won by the defending team the defenders give it right back to the attacking team who
  • now starts an attack on the other goal which is defended by the blue team
  • switch roles after 5-7 minutes

Variation:

  • play 3v3v3, 5v5v5 etc.
  • create a numbers up situation (i.e. 5 attackers vs. 2 x 3 defenders)
  • adjust spacing depending on the age and ability of the group
