Alright girls, I don’t know about you but there is nothing better than participating in a sport you love except doing so while looking you’re best alongside your teammates. Simple accessories like bows and ribbons can really add to a team’s sense of unity and confidence without being a distraction. The three hair accessories below are so easy to make, the whole team could get together for an hour of bonding and crafting.

The Braided Headband

This adorable headband really only took about 5-10 minutes to finish and I think it turned out wonderfully. Inspired by PS I Made This, you’ll only need a few supplies for this braided beauty. Feel free to mix up the materials to make them unique to your team and style.

Scissors
Hair Tie
Ribbon (In your team color of course!)
Leather
Ball Chain
Rope (I used Parachute Cord)

How to:
Step One:
First, gather your ribbon, leather, cord, and ball chain together and tie around the hair tie. Make sure to pull very tight. I found it worked best to pull each individual piece after securing to make the knot as tight as possible.

Step Two:
Start braiding! Now if you are following this exactly, at this point you should realize you have more than three pieces to braid together. No worries! I simply paired two of my materials and kept them together as a single strand of the braid. In this case I paired the leather with the silver ribbon. I suggest keeping the ball chain by itself because it is the most difficult to work with.
Tip: Keep the braid very tight for the best result.

Step Three:
Now that you’ve braided enough so the headband will fit your head, you can tie the unfinished end to the hair tie just like you did when you started. Again, make sure you pull very tight. To be safe, try adding a dot of glue to each knot.

Step Four:
Trim the ends and gear up for the game!

The Baseball Bow

The baseball bow

You can make this easy felt bow for any sport but I chose to do a baseball design. You can also use ribbon instead of felt if you would prefer. Either way, these bows add some personalized fun to your team’s appearance.

What You’ll Need:

The Baseball Bow

Felt (White or Yellow)
Scissors
Hair Tie
Hot Glue Gun
Red and Black Fabric Paint
Ribbon (optional)

How to:
Step One:
The first step is to cut out two rectangles of equal width from your felt. One piece should be a little longer than the other. I found cutting one strip to be 6 inches and the other to be 7 inches worked well. The width of my large felt pieces is about 2.5 inches.

The Baseball Bow

Step Two:
Fold the longer of the two pieces in half and make two small cuts (about ¼ inch) on either side. Fold in half lengthwise and do the same thing.

The Baseball Bow

Step Three:
Now that you know where the middle of each side is, cut out triangles on all sides. This will create the shape of the ribbon portion of the bow.

The Baseball Bow

Step Four:
Place the cut piece behind the other and pinch in the middle. Wrap a small piece of felt around the center and glue. If you’d like, you can even add a ribbon around the middle. This is where you should add your hair tie but I like to use a bobby pin instead.

Step Five:
Finally, grab your red fabric paint and decorate your ribbon with the seams of a baseball or a softball. With the black fabric paint, add each girl’s number on the bow. Now they are all set to run the bases!

This super simple headband is perfect for the no fuss kind of girl. It will add just enough personalization to their uniform without too much flare.

Headband
Felt (2 colors)
Scissors
Fabric Glue

How to:
Step One:
I suggest printing out a number in a font you like to use as a sort of stencil. If, however, you are feeling brave and creative, draw your number right onto your felt and cut it out.

Step Two:
Using a different color, cut out the same number only slightly larger. Glue the two numbers together. I found it worked best to glue the number you have cut out onto a different piece of felt and cut around it.

Step Three:
Adhere the felt number to your headband and leave to dry. This is where the bobby pins come in. They work really well in holding the felt number to the headband while it dries.

There you have it! Three super cute and simple ideas for the whole team to take part in. No matter the sport, these no sew accessories will make all the girls stand out and feel confident.
