For soccer players, dribbling is unique as it is something they perform entirely themselves. To become an excellent player it is best to dribble with both your feet and with velocity. You ought to have the ability to get around defenders and generate time and space for yourself and the team. Basic Information

Age Group: (5-7yrs) (8-11yrs) (12-15yrs)
Number of Players: 8+
Difficulty: Easy-Medium
Time: 5-10 min.
Emphasis: Dribbling

Field Preparation:

  • each player with a ball
  • cones to mark off area
  • middle zone 4-6yds wide

Description:

  • players attempt to dribble from one zone to the other
  • one tagger (coach/player) is positioned in the middle zone
  • once a player crosses the middle zone he must dribble around the yellow cone before he can try to return
  • if tagged, players must leave the grid and do a simple task before they can rejoin the game (10 x toe
  • taps, knock ball between feet 10 x, 5 x juggles etc.)
  • each successful crossing is awarded a point

Variation:

  • specify how players must dribble (left or right foot, inside or outside foot etc.)
  • start activity without balls as a warm up
  • vary number of taggers
  • adjust spacing depending on the age and ability of the group if necessary
