Step by Step Instructions (With Pictures)
Step 1: Prep Your Veggies
- Lettuce: chop thinly and toss with a light coating of Italian vinaigrette.
- Tomato: slice thin to medium thickness and cut slices in half.
Step 2: Prep Your Bread
Keep Things Neat: just like in the sandwich shop – don’t slice all the way through your bread – this will help hold your ingredients inside the sandwich.
Add Your Condiments: spread mayo on both sides of the bread. Jimmy John’s is very generous here, we suggest doing it to your preference.
Will it be awhile until you eat? Add butter first to prevent your condiments from making the bread too moist.
Want to kick it up a notch? Many salad dressings go well on sandwiches: ranch, thousand island, cucumber, etc. Depending who you are making it for, try out sriracha or tabasco mixed with mayo.
Step 3: Add Your Toppings
Strategize Your Layering! If you are packing your sandwiches to-go, we suggest going in this order to keep things from getting messy: cheese – tomato – meat – lettuce.
